I have a set of brass flatware that I've had for years but never used. Is it safe to eat with?

Have you had any luck with this? I noticed brass flatware is still sold (at least overseas). I also have a set that was purchased in Thailand a number of years ago and am unsure about its safety (although I've seen nothing to say it's unsafe).
