what's the deal with the pop-ups that are suddenly here when i first enter the forum? Is that something you arranged, or something that just happened?

Yeah, but why are these the only pop-ups on planet Earth that make their way through my pop-up blocker?

I have no idea. I use a company called Fastclick which is all over the place so I'm surprised that these get through but others don't.

BTW in the next evolution of my sites(very soon) there will be a subscription option (for a nominal fee) that will have no ads at all.

Check it out- I'll post the address in the lockerroom, any regulars are welcomed to give it a kick but be advised it is still very much a work in progress.

Don't forget about popovers.
If you use the mozilla browser you can set it to block all pop-up windows or just ones from a particular site. It also has a cookie manager, a password manager, a forms manager, downloads, all controled from the Tools menu.

I love popovers!

Playing with cookies is a PITA. I've tried it but most sites require them to work correctly and if you set it to announce every one it's a nightmayer.

YMMV

It's definitely a geek thing.
