WebFoodPros.com Chef Forums: The Great Hall: help starting up

I am new to this industry and site, but I am looking at beginning a new venture and need some advice. Any assistance anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking at bringing a product (condiment) into the US. It is a product currently manufactured in Central America but I would like to bring it accross to US.

I believe I will have to produce it in US as the capabilities out here are not what I would desire.

What should I beware of? Do I buy the recipie outright or provide a royalty of some sorts on a per unit basis? Where do I begin to find a location or equipment to mass produce this product?

Again, I am new to this industry, but I'm certain this product will fly on the us market. I would love any advice I can get from pros in the business.

Thank you
-E

The only thing holding you back is you don't know anything about the venture , or if it will be recieved, or how to procure it, or how to import it, or where to mkt it .
Its like this,

I have a killer cookie recipe, I can't tell you what its made from because its a secret.
Do you think it will sell ?
Same thing.
