I know the whole illegal/home-based issue has been extensively covered (I've just spent 45 minutes reading various threads).

What I'm not sure about is where the illegality starts. My municipality has been less than helpful (so far) in providing info.

Here's what I propose:

1. I purchase all food
2. I prepare food in client's home to be served immediately (i.e. dinner parties)

From what I've read this fall more under the "personal chef" mantle as opposed to caterer, legal or illegal.

What you describe does fall under the heading of personal chef. It's perfectly legale but there are some points that can put into the grey area.

Insane, for you if your hurt, if you hurt someone while there, or property damage. Taxes. A business licence. Health certificate or "Serve Safe Card." These are some of the questions you will have to ask yourself and if you have read the previous post on the subject all these issues have been brought up and explained in more detail.

I vote legal! BUT CHARGE TONS! $100-$500 per day after food costs
