I am doing a volunteer community thanksgiving dinner we do not have a head count yet but it may be 100 or 200 or 300 we will be setting up tables family style how do i estimate how many birds I will need????

You get about a 50% yield from whole turkeys. So it depends on how much you want to serve per person.
8oz per person is not to outrageous for Thanksgiving so you would need to buy 100 lbs. of turkey for 100 people.
