WebFoodPros.com: WanaBe a Chef: Culinary school vs HRM school???
By Luv2cook (Luv2cook) on Sunday, June 18, 2000 - 02:19 pm: Edit

I'm 50+ making a career change after owning my own industrial business for 20 years.

Love to do gourmet cooking and entertaining - have strong business management skills. Decided to go to culinary school and started working in a restaurant as a hostess with the plan of learning the front of the house first then moving to the back during my educational process.

I've come to the conclusioin that my talents and gifts are best suited to management but am torn between having the knowledge that culinary school would give me as part of the management package or just taking HRM courses.

Any suggestions from those of you out there who have been or are in management????

Thanks!

I believe either would be good but taking HRM at a culinary school would be best because in addition to your managemnet classes you would also be required to take a certain amount of hands on cooking classes along with the culinary and baking majors. So here you could get both worlds.
Best of luck,
Colin
