As many of you know- The Alumni Relations Office reports that three CIA graduates are among those confirmed missing: Heather Ho '93 was Pastry Chef at Windows on the World; Jay Robert Magazine '75 was Catering Manager at Windows on the World; and Gerald O'Leary '89 was a corporate chef for Cantor Fitzgerald.
Gerald O'Leary (he went by Jerry) started out in my group and was in it up and until extern. He was just a kid back then, with a good heart and a good sense of humor.
I got this from another member of our group, Jack McGrath- Just opened your e-mail. It is him. Attached find a copy of e-mail I got from him back in February. That means his kid is 13 months old now.
Jerry's E-Mail from 2-20-01 How are you doing Jack? Yes, It's been a very long time. I'm living in Stony Point NY (north Rockland county) I'm married and have a 5 month old baby boy. I just switched jobs about 3 weeks ago, I was a banquet chef in the Plaza Hotel for the last 6 years, but since having the baby, I couldn't work those crazy hours no more. I'm now a chef for a corporate company called Forte Foods, in the World Trade Center. The hours are nice and i get all the weekends off. It was great hearing from you! Keep in touch! Jerry O'Leary
There has been talk of setting up a scholarship in the names of the CIA Alumni lost in the tragedy but I don't think that will help their family members much.
The annual alumni reception at the Javits Center- Monday, November 12, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m Jacob Javits Convention Center, 655 West 34th Street, New York, NY 10001 It is normally a fundraiser for CIA Scholarships. I think it is only fitting that this year the funds raised should go to the families of CIA Alumni Victims of the 9-11 tragedy.
