I feel incredible contempt and disdain for those bastards that assaulted those women in Central Park on Sunday. I cannot fathom why they would take pleasure in terrorizing and violating another human being. A chill ran up my spine when I watched the video in the news.

As the only woman working in a kitchen full of guys(22), I can honestly say that I have not felt threatened sexually in any way. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I am fluent in Spanish(majority of the guys are Hispanic), the executive chef likes me and has put the fear of god in them, or they've seen my 6'2" 220# husband. Abusing alcohol seems to be the culprit in most kitchens that I've worked(this one is no exception), and that's one of the reasons I don't let my guard down with certain members of our kitchen team. I trust my intuition. But it really really bothers me that watching something like what happened in NY can incite dread or apprehension in me just because I'm female.
I was wondering how others feel about this subject?

I heard about it, but was it daytime or night? I was walking alongside the park one night (about 13 years ago), and a bunch of guys dragged me and my date into the park at gunpoint, and did some pretty scary things, but they didn't want to rape and kill us, thank God, they only wanted to steal from us, which they did. I feel for anyone who is unable to use their freedom.

Just another example of where were going. I don't know if it was a gender thing, I think the females were an easy target and would not hurt the perps.
It made me sick! I don't know where this happened but if this had happened 30 yrs ago in the south Bronx, those women would have not had to wait for the police, the neighborhood would have stepped in.

Did you know that the reason the police weren't readily available is because they were told to relax enforcement of the law, specifically regarding public drinking, so that they don't look racist?
