BONOMO'S TURKISH TAFFY

This site was cited in Mr Bonomo's obituarie in the New York Times.

I grew up in the forties and fifties and just last week I was kidding with my dentist about never being able to eat Bonomo's Turkish Taffy again--this as a result of the tenuous condition of my front tooth after extensive repair.

Bonomo's and Duncan yo-yo's were an integral part of my youth. Even though I can no longer enjoy, I too think Tootsie should make and market again. A really great candy.

Re: Bonomo's Turkish Taffy
I absolutely agree with Ralph in Richmond. There is nothing like a frozen bar that we used to smack on the sidewalk. Can't find anything like it today. Come on Tootsie -- get with it!

Please, Please Tootsie Roll. Please re-create Bonomo Turkish Taffy in honor of Mr. Bonomo's passing for those of us who can still remember what it is! Banana, vanilla and chocolate were the best.

The obit today caused a trip down memory lane. I can remember the taste of that fabulous vanilla taffy. I loved it in it's pure vanilla flavor, never too fond of chocolate, strawberry although banana was not bad. I loved the packaging and was grateful the Times printed that photograph. What can we do to get Tootsie Roll to remake the bar. Loved to smack it on the sidewalk! The rest of the trip included Skykbars, JuJubes, Good&Plenty, Pom Poms, Sugar Daddy, Boston Baked Beans, Clark bars and on and on.............

Bonomo's was the best. Tootsie would be smart in
bringing it back (at least for a year) as a limited edition in honor of Mr. Bonomo!!!!!!!

I agree about getting Tootsie to bring back Bonomo's but has anyone been able to find a way to contact them. Their website does not seem to have a means to send messages to them and this would be an excellent time and method for pushing our cause. If anyone has suggestions, let me know please!

I'm in Virginia now but my sister sent me the obituary because she knows how much I long for Bonomo Turkish Taffy. It would be so great to have again and this would be the best time to remember it. All flavors please. I'd also like to see Sugar Daddy's and Black Cows! What a thrill! Please Tootsie, you'd be a hero!

tootsie roll company has already been asked they just suck. turkish taffy is (was!) one of the best type of candies ever made. if tootsie roll would bring it back than they would probably have ten times more sold in a year then they did before. if anyone can get the recipe i know people that would gladly pay millions for it!

I agree with all the above. Turkish Taffy was one of my favorites and I have been searching for it for several years. NECCO kindly answered my query leading me to the bonomo site.

Perhaps NECCO can be persuaded to re-purchase this recipe??????????
