WebFoodPros.com: The Great Hall: Are you fluent in spanish?
By W.DeBord on Monday, August 09, 1999 - 09:39 pm: Edit

I work for a mexican born chef at a private country club who isn't interested in looking at foodpros. Is anyone out there fluent in spanish and also a head chef? I think he would benifit from all the knowledge located at this site but he doesn't seem comfortable looking. I thought if he could find someone who speaks spanish it might encourage him to become interested.

W,

Try searching for a Mexican or Spanish site, there has to be some.

Cheers, Gerard

W, why not have him give you a question en espanol and post it, then see if you get any replies (en espanol)?

He has no questions. He is a chef like many who would never admit he didn't know something. Maybe I'll look for a Spanish site after the busy season is over. I was just hoping to spark his interest not make more work for myself.

Maybe you could get him to "talk" to the web site if there is someone like me (jo en espanol) who would just like to chat about where you are located, what type of menu you guys are doing, and maybe I can get him into a dialogue, Y tambien,jo hablo Espanol!

Good luck W.DeBord. I have a cook who I just promoted. Mexican, very competent but will never admit he doesn't know something. Everything is "add some garlic." And he means granulated garlic. Doesn't care for fresh. The man can cook like a dream and he's fast. I want to help cultivate his gift, but boy is it hard. I want julienne, he gives me battonets. Big ones. Like giant logs. I try to explain what I want, he says..."add some garlic."

Stop laughing at me. LOL. No one ever promised it would be easy.
