Hi Folks,
I watched the Towers as they burn't early today and into the dusk. I always got a kick out of being able to see them way west of me over Reynolds Channel and the bay.
My wife was working in 7 WTC until 4 weeks ago. Luckily she was up town for this and got home relatively easily.
My fire department was call up to go into the City on standby, but they cancelled all units except for 1 pumper. They are still there. The rest of Nassau was already there and they need equipment and crews to protect the our own homes.
At least 200 NYC firemen and 78 NYPD lost their lives. I hope I don't know any of them.
This is truly a sad day for all Americans and those in the civilized world.

I'm giving blood tomorrow before work. Minnesota Red Cross sent its supply out today and it needs to be replenished. I heard it on the radio as I was taking my kid to school this morning. I'll never forget it. I'm in shock what more can I say. My prayers and condolenses go out to the families and people of New York and the United States. God Bless

My father was staying at the Marriott across the street and was supposed to be in 1WTC on business. Instead, he was a mile uptown at another client's office.
We had a few hours of panick this morning before he managed to get an e-mail out to us.
The world has gone crazy. What a waste.

Does anyone have any information on casualties at Windows on the World? I'm in Australia without a TV and extremely concerned.
Truly a very sad day indeed

Lets offer a moment of slience ..
for everyone, but with special thougth to all the people working in the kitchens in the restaurants in the WTC buildings.....all the food preps, cooks, bakers and chefs, most likley just starting their day...
Windows on the world and the others...

Makes you wonder about the saying...When it's your
turn, there's no escaping it!
Look at Yankee's dad, how many people called in
sick on this day? How many changed plans? How many
were delayed by some incident like traffic or
something else? How about the people that made it
out and thought they were safe and called family
to let them know they were safe then, the second
tower plows down on them!
The stories to come will be of great human epic
proportions, and of the worst mankind can think of.
I for one am a believer of an eye for an eye in
cases of this nature, I can be forgiving...but I
think not in this instance, I can't be in this
instance, the people that lost their lives have
nothing to do with this unholy war. They are dads,
moms, rescuers, hard working.....there's no piece
of land or religious principle worth this cost to
any people.
Those responsible and their allies should suffer
the ultimate with extreme prejudice.....
God forgive me for wishing this on people I don't
even know but, who would do this to people they
don't even know!
I know we are naive as Americans as to believe
that we are not at war with terrorist all the
time, I know because I have family involved in
these issues in the military. We have neglected
this espionage game financially and, we have paid
the price. It is something that we wil never
forget after September 11th, 2001.
America will never be the same, hopefully for the
better and, better national security. We might
become a more militant nation, we might be a
little more inconvinienced by security measures
but that is the cost of democracy and the freedom
we enjoy afforded to us by many service men and
women who served this country. Or we might just be
enraged for a while and things will go back to how
they were.
Sorry for the volumenous rant! but I had to!!!
God Bless USA

I've gotten this sent to me 4 times already today, but maybe some of ya'll haven't seen it. It says a lot, a lot that I can't say, my sister got lucky & had an appt uptown but I had friends on the tower who are gone now.

Your not ranting Manny, your angry, like many of us. Unfortunately our government will position themselves in the restraint mode. We always do. We have never gone to the source.
This too will pass in a few weeks when people start forgetting. Call me a homer, but if a nation, country, town, group in harboring or aiding terrorists, they need to be eliminated. PLEASE!!
Don't reply with the inocent people thing.
Sorry, I can't even verbalize this with other people but I find it easier to type.
I can't get the pictures of people celebrating over these acts, out of my head. I'm not sure these are innocent people? I have to believe these young people are being raised as haters and that one day they will be a threat to my child.
I can't believe I feel this way, it makes me very sad.
By Chefmanny (Chefmanny) on Wednesday, September 12, 2001 - 04:37 pm: Edit |
I have to write it also, I can't say this to anyone, except the ones that deserve it! I agree with you; there are no innocent people in the areas that harbor these criminals, they are raised to be terrorists, they know no other life, the leaders of these countries should be told: turn them over by noon tomorrow or you will have no country to lead!...period.
ZAP the s--- out of them...the only thing we did wrong in Iraq is that we did not finish the job!
If you don't finish it, they will return.
Yes, I am mad as hell!!!

My sympathies go out to you New Yorkers who lost family and friends in this horrendous tragedy.... strike that... MURDER!
I actually got an email from an AOL "community leader" which said that she missed the wonderful days of Bill Clinton. I will say one thing to that. It was his policy of downsizing our budget for intelligence and military which has made us a weaker nation. I am not a great fan of Bush either, but I hope and pray that this will change under this administration.. Freedom is not free...
We have to give up some freedoms to be protected...
I don't give a sh** what it costs... PROTECT ME and MY FAMILY!!!!!
What's next? Suicide Car Bombings at stadiums filled with innocent people? A coke can filled with biological agents tossed into a movie premiere?
Find these bastards and make them cease to exist... Kill their wives and children too if necessary... Left unchecked, It is a matter of time before their kids will be trying to kill mine....
We are responsible for the actions of our parents...
If my country were harboring these criminals I would expect my ass kicked!
How we forget.... It was just 60 years ago that Pearl Harbor was attacked by the cowardly Japanese. I can assure you my father hasnt forgotten. I buy as little as I can from Japan...
God Bless NYC, DC and the United States of America!!!
