Kosher ?

Can't say that I've seen nor heard of a Kosher restuarant? Anyone?

See, Kosher everywhere.
You need to get out of your county.
Go to the big city, thats where those really tall buildings are.
I know your in Tx. Home of the Dallas Cowboys Spittoon Stadium, but I just know there are Kosher Rest's. there.
When you find one, eat there, you may find the food to be surprisingly good.

ANy kind of restaurant can be kosher.
but its more then just a blessing

for non jews and some jews you must have a Maskia(sp)
there all the time and when he is not all the food is locked up.


there are even special alarms or closed circut tv's that some kosher groups will put on the place to moniter you is inside.

but it all depends on your level of kosering,

If you mess around or do something your not supposed to do they will pull there kosher certificate.

Spike, I'll send you an email explaining my situation on "being Jewish".

And not just any resuarant can be kosher. It has to do with the way the food is cooked, and also blessed. For instance, you can't cook any dairy in the same dishes used for meat. Like a cheese burger, yeah right! In Israel, there is only one place in the whole country that will sell you a cheese burger, McDonalds on BenYa'huda street in Jerusalem. Yes, leave it up to an American company to do that...lol

McDonalds in Israel, But I guess there are some(?) that don't follow Kosher, just like here.

There are all degrees of Kosher, from Glatt Kosher to Kosher Style with Glatt being the most restrictive.

Any restaurant can be made kosher for an event. A team comes in and sterilizes everything (even using blow torches on the SS counters and even the ovens). They normally bring all their own cooking supplies and equipment. If you work a kosher don't bother bringing your own tools, they provide koshered ones. Sometimes they also bring their own plates and cutlery but I've also seen them sterilize ones on the premises.

Kosher food can be very high end and delicious, but I've actually experienced situations where we had to throw out a whitefish salad because it tasted too good. It was a wedding for the children of two orthodox rabbis. When the meschgia (sp) tasted it he said it tasted too good for them to believe it as actually kosher and had us throw it out.

The strictest kosher standards include In addition to the no meat and dairy mixing all meat products have to be obtained from approved kosher sources (approved by that individual meschia, not just a kosher label on the product). Truly kosher products can only be purchased from stores that ONLY carry kosher products. (99.9% of supermarkets are out) With beef they only use the fore half of the carcass. Nothing with a cloven hoof (pork) and all fish must have scales, no shellfish at all.

On the other hand there is kosher style which is far from kosher. I've done barmitzvas that were "kosher style" that served lots of shrimp and lobster. (totally against the rules)

All this only scratches the surface.

BTW kosher caterers pay extremely well for party cooks and it's normally real easy cash money.

I know you're just teasing spike, but i'll tell ya in a nutshell(no pun intended)anyways. I grew up in a baptist church until I was 9-10 yrs young. Then, when my pops became a christian, he didn't like that church and decided to move the family elsewhere. Well, we ended up in a Messianic Jewish Synagogue. Messianic meaning that these are Jews that believe in Jesus as christians. Been going there for 14yrs now. So, I'm not really a Jew as much as I am sorta, kinda a convert.
Many Jewish people don't eat kosher here in the states as George mentioned, it's nearly impossible to do. Hence the original question. Now I try to eat as kosher as possible, no pork/shellfish/non-scaly fish.
There are McDonalds in Israel other than that one, and they are all kosher... wow huh!

As for the name of the rabbi that blesses the food... uuuhhh.... lemme look into that cause I dont' know off the top of my head.

Glatt Kosher has nothing to do with strictness.

All that means is the animal (mainly beef) has had there lungs checked and they are free from deasies (sp)

There are many levels of strictness.
It all depends on your rabbi.

Kosher is BS, I worked at a Jewish country club and most members used to sneak in the back to eat the BBQ pork we made for the help!!!!!!!!
