Working too but that evening we're having a remembrance service at the local fire hall. Honoring the memories of the lost and honoring those who serve will be the theme. I'm looking forward to it.

Anybody hear that thing about driving with your headlights on all day on 9-11? How about saying the pledge of allegiance wherever you are at 12 noon? Our church will be ringing its bell at the four times when planes crashed.

Man i'll tell ya, it's going to be hard as hell to get through that again.
thinking of all those lost and how little we've done to get those who did it, and are part of it.
i turn on the tv and it's all over the thing,
every news channel and special report.
i thought i could handle it, but maybe not.
i loved those towers, and that restaurant, and when i worked there, i used to sit outside and watch all those people go in. there was always so many people there. there was a small group of us that would smoke just outside the doors of the lobby. same people.
so many good times and memories.
the food that we did was out standing.
not to offend anyone here, but Henry Boubee', the chef and Damian Realon the Ex. Sous were the best Chef's I've ever worked with.
when we were there, we set the record for sales in food and bev. 30 million( i think it was that, or damn close to it)
if you were never there the view was unlike any other.
it really was...A Window on the World.
it sounds stupid but it gets me so damn sad.
i can't imagine the pain of trying to find a lost loved one, like those people were doing, even days after. maybe knowing that it was hopeless, but never giving up. never.
sorry i don't mean to get you all bummed.

It's nice to remember the good times & people and respectful to honor the memories, but it's downright disgraceful of the tv / media to keep cranking out all of this sh*t that the're putting onto the tube for the sake of memorial when its about ratings and whatever a-hole award they're trying to win.

Me, I plan to work and then go home and hug my family.

My wife is working down on Water Street, but has taken this week off. We're going to play with our daughter and go to the beach. It's really weird, 9/11 was a beautiful day with bright blue skies. Now we get a day like that and it reminds me of the tragedy. Not to mention that every time a jet flies over I see the replay of the planes hitting the towers, and I'm under the flight path to JFK.

I ain't doin nothin. Probably just sit around and pray for victims families and for our President to make the right decisions in this whole Iraq thing(but that's another story). It is pretty bad that the media puts on tv what they know will win them ratings, but, that's the name of the game.

I will be working. The school is having a pledge of allegiance (remember when we did that every day?) and memorial at 8:45.

The local Christian radio has been having a wonderful memorial program for the weekend and ongoing through the 11th. They did recordings of survivor's stories and have had police and firemen on talking about their experiences. It has been respectful and appropriate. My community is having a memorial service. As most of the local firemen are volunteer, it really touches home with us when something big happens. The forest fires pull away from almost every profession in the mountains. I really can't imagine the impact in the city.

You know, if we didn't see it on the Television or hear it on the Radio we all would be very upset and complain about that too. No doubt about it – seeing and hearing all the coverage of 9-1-1 madness - pricks at our very souls over and over again. But with such little cost to us individually, (for we still are living) we are privileged to have the sanity to remember and never forget what was done to all of us. Each and every one of us has been affected. ONLY those filled with hate will choose to forget or scoff at this evil. ONLY those with a cold hard heart...(and yes, they are here among us in this country) will feel nothing. But for all of you that feel "something"..."anything" at all - with all the coverage and talk about this hideous evil thing that was done to us...I SALUTE YOU! You FEEL something! You hurt, have anger, tortured. For all of you that are suffering - be thankful. You have a HEART. So, when you complain about the Television coverage for "ratings" I forgive you, because your very soul is sick…real sick of it all and you wish it would go away, that it didn’t happen. You wish you don’t see the pain in others faces, because after all, it’s not you or your family. Yes, it hurts you. Don’t you see? You are relating to these people in your own way. These suffering people wish it was all a nightmare and that it didn’t happen to them. They don’t want to mourn either. Suffer financial losses. Not hold their mates again. Not have the other parent raise their children with them. You feel their pain…literally. You simply FEEL something unlike the monsters that has tortured us all in this country. Please, please value what has been given you…LIFE. Value each other. And when you’re screaming out inside in pain, there is someone that listens…a higher source.

Our family will call New Jersey and Cleveland, Ohio to family there and let them know we are thinking of them and love them. My family will sit quietly in front of the Television, as many will in this country...for I am in Ohio and hours away. We will sit there and listen, stare into space at times while meditating on all the madness that is embarking on our borrowed time in life and reflect on the costs on each and every one of us. It’s changed us and took precious time away from us by stressing our minds and bodies! It’s enveloped us and we can’t escape it. We will be thankful for the communication we are receiving through the media. Thankful for sitting beside each other and breathing each other's air. And most likely – me - the Mommie and wife, will have tears running down my cheeks for these people and their losses. And for my 3 sons and husband, I am sure there will be tears in their hearts also. I will be thankful that our family is not cold, heartless, violent, prejudice or KILLERS. That my family loves god, each other, and their fellow man. For this, I meditate on daily... For this I will hold my head up high and be thankful for my very life and theirs. And for one more thing, to be here in this forum sharing your hearts, thoughts and mourning, for this brings our country a little closer and with a little more friendship, support, help, symbolic hands held, and love. I live in ozone park queens and the planes come in slow low you can see the people in the windows.

Im pretty used to it because i have lived here all my life,

funny thing was that right after sept 11 when there was no planes flying I could not sleep because the quiet was just to scary...

I hear ya.

Lived in Jackson Heights at 30th Ave and 70st on the top of a 3 story for a couple of years, they were landing right on top of us.

It was very bizzar when all the planes were grounded. Normally you can see about 7 or 8 planes at any time where we are and then just nothing. We did get buzed by a fighter at about 50 feet off the deck, what a noise, but before you could react to it was over the horizon.

Winddove WOW I loved what you wrote. It was nice to have someone express them selves so clearly, and touch on so many different points. I too have a strong point of view on this issue, but my anger is directed in a different place than yours. You seem to be angry with your fellow citizens, and feel a need to “Forgive” them. I am angry too, but at those that have used this incident to serve their own end. Remember I was several thousand miles away in a VERY liberal location, and many people in MY neighborhood first thought BUSH had done it himself to get funding for the military. After a few seconds of rational thought even the most paranoid, left wing, conspiracy theorist had to concede to the authenticity of the attack, but there was talk, there WAS talk..

I was once told a story about slaughtering rabbits in a pen. When the other rabbits saw what was going on they started…well.. trying to breed like rabbits. Maybe it was some weird survival instinct, or just one last fling. Who knows? It just goes to show that we all deal with things in a different way.

Forgive me George if I gave you the wrong impression. Maybe I didn't make my writing clear enough. I certainly do not want to offend my "fellow man". In fact - just the opposite. I was making a point with the folks in this forum about expressing themselves of being tired of all the media on 9-1 -1. I was saying...if we didn't hear it on the media...being Americans...we would complain about it. We would wonder why were aren't being told anything. I have heard the people yelling out in pain at Tom Brokaw on MSNBC saying, “Why didn’t we know this…Why didn’t we know that?” We all want to know everything and yet at times…we probably shouldn’t know it all…who knows. In all honesty…Americans do complain a lot sometimes with reason…and sometimes with no reason. At the same token, I am thankful they are tired of hearing it – I am too because it hurts and it’s sad...but… I am thankful we all FEEL something. It's been put upon all of shoulders because of this atrocity. We didn’t ask for it. It’s forced. My anger is directed to the KILLERS. They are evil and have taken over MY SPACE too. I relate to all that is selfish for their happiness. Who wants this evil forced onto them? Not me - not you. We would not be dealing with it all and hurting from it all if we are not victims of it all. And...Additionally, and on a good note...this nightmare this whole country has to contend with now...well...sad to say it will toughen us up, and perhaps become a little softer with our loved ones – our neighbors. All we owe anyone is dignity. What a price to pay though...what a high price. As with all things there is something to learn. My main point though, is these people here in the forum...Care. They care about hurting. They care about the infringement on their lives. They are not cold, hard, unfeeling, cruel...etc. My god...they feed people. How loving is that? I salute them...not critical of them. Again, thank you for your kind words...and know that I meant it all as a compliment to this forum and the Chefs in here. Even on this day of remembering the past, I can't help but think of the future. What will happen when we invade Iraq? I'm positive that it will not be as "simple" as Desert Storm, as the other countries in the Middle East will rise to the occasion and back Saddam Hussain. Although the muslim countries actually hate eachother and fight amongst themselves, they all have one thing in common that brings them together in a strong way... Hatred towards Israel and the USA. I fear that once we invade Iraq other muslim countries will come against us. Saudi, Iran, Egypt. Hopefully not Pakistan as they carry nuclear weapons. Russia and China are also a threat to consider as Russia needs money and has "stuff" to sell to these muslim 'states'. China, I'm not real sure about, other than the pact that they signed w/ Russia and middle asian countries back in '99. I'm scared of the draft. What I hope and pray is that all of the these things will bring back the one person who can bring peace to everyone, Yeshua Ha Meshia. Only then will I truely know what peace is.
