I know it is early for this thought but I am making up an Oktoberfest menu for the club. I have almost all my hot foods and desserts in line. What I need is cold or hot salads, any side dish at all( and no not german spud salad. All I can find is german potato salad so I need other inspiration. Any help would be appreciated. And anymore dessert selections might help as well.

Stuffed potatoe dumplings: Like a potato croque stuffed with croutons or farce meat.

Black forest salad: Diced roast beef, ham and assorted cheeses tossed in a vinaigrett.

My wife is Bavarian and two of her favorites are gurkensalat(cucumber, white vinegar, sugar ,salt, pepper, and maybe some onions. I'm sure you could throw in whatever you like.), and wurstsalat with fleischwurst. I always thought fleischwurst was kind of like a German bologna. I have no idea how specific or general the term is either. My wife generally cuts up the wurst(baton)and tosses it with onion, tomato, diced cheese, and a red or cider vinaigrette. I think her friend throws some sweet little cornichons into the mix and they eat it with bread. Please forgive any improperly spelled German words.

A couple more-Cucumber daikon salad(gurken-rettich-salat)cucumber, daikon, white vinegar, oil, mustard, s&p.
Fleischsalat-leftover lean roast pork julienned, peas, cooked or canned(ouch) button mushrooms, finely cut cornichon, squeeze of lemon, mayo, s&p.
My wifes family loves canned mushrooms, but I'll never understand why.
