they solicited me directly, first with a phonecall, then with an e-mail. I'm *SO* not interested, but it would be fun to watch the other people audition!

why arent you interested? (if you dont mind my asking) i think it would be a fun thing, although being on tv isnt my bag, and it also might be a bit gimmicky

from what I've seen of reality shows, you simply can't come off looking good. it amplifies everything you do. If you defer to others, you come off wussy. if you assert yourself, you come off bitchy. if you're proud of yourself, you come off arrogant. I have enough experience making myself look bad in real life ;-) and, in the end, I've got plenty of local exposure, I don't want/need national exposure. The worst thing that could happen would be that it became successful: I'd be the goth-poseur version of Rachael Ray and have my own anti-fan clubs.

that or become like emeril *shudder*

yeah i see what your saying, other than HK i HATE reality tv

By Chefmanny (Chefmanny) on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 - 09:32 am: Edit

That is not "reality tv" folks, how many kitchens have any of you worked at that would tolerate that!!!!
Only moronic twits would subject themselves to that!...and watch...(like me)

Chenejaune, there's nothing wrong w/ Rachel and Emeril. They make money and do it by doing what they love to do. No different than an NFL player. Just because you don't like them, for whatever reason, doesn't make them bad people or make the culinary scene worse. If anything, they have helped the explosion taking place in the culinary world. Now, is that good or bad? that's the question.
