Just moved to the area across the border and would like to know where the good restaurants and adventurous chefs are in the Vancouver area.

OK so I googled Blain,

Vancouver BC is a real food town.

Their China town, while not as large as San Francisco's, has as much history and fewer tourist traps. Great place to shop. There is also a small enclave of Indian shops and other great place for hard to find items.

Sun Sui Wha is a Dim Sum restaurant patterned after how they are in China. Girls pushing carts throughout this huge restaurant with a fantastic array of offerings. I liked the chicken feet in black been sauce.

Granville Island is another chefs paradise. A market of artisans housing butchers, fish mongers, bakers, farmers and a host of items you'll never see anywhere else. Have you ever seen fresh Wasabi, I never did until I went there.

Vancouver's sustainable food scene is rampant. C Restaurant is a leader in sustainable cuisine. Across from the restaurant is their Bar and lounge, can't remember the name, has a fantastic view of Granville Island.

Speaking of Views Tojo's Restaurant not only has the best Japanese food in Vancouver it arguably has the best view of the city. Getting there just at sunset I was stunned by how beautiful the city is.

There is a cheese shop Les Ami du Fromage, near Granville Island, Fantastic French and locally produce Cheeses.

That a few of the places I went to there were more that we hit at night using taxis but I can't remember most of them. The restaurant on Grouse Mountain was goo too.
