Do any of you purchase food from alternate sources?
Such as: Sams Club, Etc.
If so, do you feel it requires more of your time than the savings are worth?
Do you do so because you wish to, or does your management make you do so?

Not on a regular basis.
However if there were specialty products I could not order in or if I needed less that a case and they would not break it, or if I did not have the minimum order a specialty vendor required I'd do a run.
The time versus savings thing really depends on a couple of factors but in most cases I’d say it hurts you because it is unlikely you are being compensated for the savings or reimbursed for auto expenses. Also if you leave staff left unsupervised they rarely accomplish what they would if you were there.
Don’t set a precedent. If they suggest it let them know you are too busy and suggest they do it themselves. (as politely as possible)
All situations are different.
YMMV,
