I need to re-finnish some pans. I have the pure tin. I need to know what prep, if any, is needed. Is flux required if the surface was previously tinned?

yOU NEED TO torch the old tin off and wipe it down, scuff lightly with 000 steel wool to provide some bite, flux it and get it hot enough to make the tin flow. It should be eay with small pans but you might need a better torch for bigger pieces.

Cheers, Gerard

Even though you said you wanted to do it yourself, here are two retinning services (You could always call them and ask too)

I have the same problem. I would like to be able to re-tin some pots but don't know what kind of flux and tin to buy or where to get it. Would appreciate any information.
