Hello everyone,I need some advise,all my life I have always wanted to be a chief and I find that It comes so natural to me and that I have this as a gift the only problem is I can't afford to go to school for this and my question is can I learn through a restuarant or become a pc?please give me some advise or if you know anyone in the Tampa Fl. area that can help me out my e-mail is Forestjane@yahoo.com THANKS jane

I don't know of any professional kitchen that won't hire unskilled workers. About half of the chefs out there haven't gone to school. Know one starts out cooking (unless your in a small Mom & Pop business) you'll have to learn food prep and probably wash some dishes (even school trained kids have to start at the begining). As your skills grow so will your duties and pay.
In your area not only do you have restaurants to apply at but I understand you can make decent money cooking for retirement communities also. Don't be nervous...you can apply even at the nicest places.
