I have spoken with environmental services in my county (San Luis Obispo) several times regarding cooking from my home. I have received mixed messages. The first time I spoke with them, it was clear that I needed to cook either from a commercial kitchen or in my client's home. I called back again with another question and they indicated I could cook from home because I would be considered a "cook for hire". They compared it to someone who cooks for weddings or funerals. I asked for documentation but I felt as though I was just getting the run around. Can anyone provide any insight into what a "cook for hire" actually is? Or, any insight into cooking from home in CA (particularly SLO county) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
