Hello, all:
I just completed a small class in pulled/blown sugar that taught the basics. I was able to buy the heatlamp station and some other tools from the teacher, but need to purchase a large silpat mat and some leaf molds. Does anyone have a site that would offer these things at reasonable prices? Thanks for any suggestions!

JB Prince is probably your best bet for silpat, from my experience. good luck and happy pulling

Confectionary arts international also has some interesting products for sugar work. I beleive JB Prince only has equpiment but the site I mention also has food colors, sugars and other products needed.

I learned sugar from Charles Camerano in the early 70's. I used to make my own leaf molds and such with plaster of paris.
I also saw a solid copper pot at Sur la Table the other day. We always used solid copper to cook the sugar and had great results.
The thicker your marble slab the better. You run less a chance of heat cracking. In most cities, there are companies who specialize in custom marble. They are a great source for your slab. search through their reminents, they usually have some great cheep finds.
