I need a recipe for sugar cookies that have a shelf life of 6 months. Can any one help?
Taste is not an issue. Preservatives are ok.

I don't know of any cookie that holds 6 months.
Why would you want one ?
And one with no taste ?
If your going to freeze them, any recipe will do.
If you want to just look at them, don't bake them like you would do, but try drying them out in a oven. Low temp. Long time. Cut back on your eggs and sugar. Roll them thick.

The cookies are being decorated and kept almost as
a keepsake.

If I make a short bread type cookie
will that work? There are no eggs in them.
But to keep the cost down what could I substitute
the butter with? Thanks for your help.

if these cookies aren't going to be eaten and used as a keepsake, why not just make fake cookies out of plaster and paint, or something along those lines?
