Sounds Like a Great Time! You brought about a concern that we have been having for a couple of years.

Our indoor/outdoor facility is in a residential area with neighbors who just LOVE loud music. So much so that they will call me to let me know. How do we get the musical performers to understand what a REASONABLE volume is??? We always get "you are not the customer."

I have talked to a DJ friend of mine who does mention that the volume of the music must be raised throughout the event to maintain the same perceived volume. (we get used to one volume so it has to be turned up to get the desired effect)

We often see a similar happening where many people will leave an event due to the volume of the music. We care about the whole party -the performers only care about getting people out of their seats. They certainly do that!!!

Any thoughts???

They tell YOU that "you are not the customer?" I would like a DJ to tell me that!! I would tell him that he will never work another party for me if he doesn't do as I request!

If the guests are not complaining and the police are not called, just continue on. If the police come, then the DJ will have to comply.

I cannot answer what decibles are reasonable, as that depends upon the acoustics and various factors. I say used your own best judgement.
