Pennsylvania Seeks To Regulate Amish Dinners Caterers Corner: Pennsylvania Seeks To Regulate Amish Dinners

This is an interesting article about the Amish "Catering" dinners in their houses. I'm surprised it took them so long to require some type of regulation, even a Health Department Cert.

"The state Agriculture Department says it wants to license dinners served to tourists in the homes of Lancaster County's Pennsylvania Dutch families. One department official said the meals, typically serving 20 to 50 people for a donation, may be connected to outbreaks of E. coli. Opponents say inspections and licensing would prevent outsiders from learning about Amish culture."

2 things-
-From the article I get the impression most of them don't even have electricity. What do they use for refrigeration an "Ice Box"

-I'm sure they declare all that income to Uncle Sam (not)

Amazing it has gone on this long.
