WebFoodPros.com: Caterers Corner: Questions to ask....
By Snuffaluff (Snuffaluff) on Friday, June 21, 2002 - 01:08 pm: Edit

Someone has approached me about helping him w/ his business(he just started a few mo. ago). He just needs someone to help cut and serve, but I told him I'd have to think about it as w/ any job offer. What are some questions I can ask him about his business?

By Chefmanny (Chefmanny) on Friday, June 21, 2002 - 04:42 pm: Edit

Does he pay? Do the checks bounce?

By Chefspike (Chefspike) on Friday, June 21, 2002 - 06:42 pm: Edit

I find it a bit ironic that he is asking you to help him with his business, but you don't know what questions to ask him to help him...

sorry, I just find that a bit odd...

What is it he is asking your to help with?

By Chefspike (Chefspike) on Sunday, June 23, 2002 - 01:10 am: Edit

yea well like many, snuffalot comes here, asks
questions like that and then we never hear from them again. Or they were just full of it to begin with. Would be nice to talk to more pro's here, ya know? Not that I'm unhappy with who's here, please don't get me wrong. You know, more Chef's in the kitchen, the kitchen is going to burn down. HaHaHaHa. I gotta get a job, I'm TOO bored.

with a e-mail address like Jesusanswers, I don't know why he's asking us questions.
You'd figure he'd be set.
LOL.
Just kidding you Doug, just kidding.

Carl, The blind leading the blind I think is the term you are seeking!!!!

that is the key, bringing in more pros. as a point to notice. mike roman himself recently posted THIS address on his forum to give his readers more opportunity for education.... speaking of irony, ironic that the powers that be here scramble his address yet the postings here are still slim.

that is reaping what you sow, speaking of cliches.

there are many pros here, just no one to stimulate conversation...

ha, where I work the pros are right outside on the corner.

Thanks for the rudness and sarcasm. All I was looking for was some information that I might overlook and be able to ask this person, but All I recieved was rudness.
Spike, yes, it is just chopped beef brisket, nothing fancy at all. There's plenty to think about when accepting a job?? I'm enrolled in school right now so I don't have 40hrs to put into work.
As for the comment about my email addy. I find that offensive. All I did was ask for some opinions and you mouth off and disgrace my religion, which has nothing to do with this site.
I find it strange that I, being 24, am more mature than some of you.

By Chefspike (Chefspike) on Monday, June 24, 2002 - 02:34 pm: Edit

Same Religion as mine.
There's humor in everything brother, and your e-mail in relation to questions is no exception, as far as I'm concerned. But thats just me.
But, please accept my sincere apologies's, I, in no way wanted to offend you or for that matter, anyone else on this post, or turn you away from futher posts. You are probabley right about the sharpness of some comments. In relation to " mouthing off ", well lets let that rest.
And disgracing your Religion, my book says something about turning the cheek, before retaliation, verbal or otherwise. We do read from the same book, Yes?
Something to ponder my mature friend, if you can't take the heat here, how do you think you'll be able to withstand it in the kitchen? Grow some thick skin. Hope to read you here again.
Have a nice day.
Peace.

Snuffy, 40 hours is part time in this business, I was doing 50 hours in high school in 4 days Th.-Sun. No pun intended but nothing is sacred in the kitchen, except the Chef of course!
Keep religion and politics away from work, too many get offended, insulted or they crack a joke and you get ticked off!
Life's too short to argue about crap like this!
How about those suicide bombers?, think Allah is answering them!!!!
Personally, I just think they need to get l--- and smoke a fatty once in a while....once even!!!!

Snuffaluff........... If you are going to make it in this industry, you will need a good sense of humour, be able to give it as quick as they give it to you, when you are working 60-70 hours a week, your only saving grace is your sense of humour, the kitchens thrive on "one liners" "quick comebacks" "witty one liners", as Chefmanny said, nothing is sacred in the kitchen, and believe it, from some of us, who have been around kitchens for 25 -30 years, there is NOTHING,that is not joked about. Forget about laws, regulations and the political correctness, it's "kitchen humour",
I hope you lighten up a bit, look on the funny side of things, it makes the long hours more bearable, believe me.

By Catergreat (Catergreat) on Tuesday, June 25, 2002 - 11:42 am: Edit

Snuff, good gosh, nothing was said to "disgrace" your religion... lighten up... as a Christian, I got a chuckle from chefspike's comment...

When you zip in and ask a question and then don't come back to clarify what you are asking, people, out of boredom, get silly... including me..

You were asked, what is it he is asking your help with? what are you cutting? etc...
