Hi all--just came across this board. I am constantly frustrated in my current position (project management) and have been thinking about starting up a home-catering business.
Been thinking more in earnest when I catered a baby-shower for my best friend and many of her friends asked if I was a caterer.
This would not be able to happen for about 1 1/2 years as I am tied down to this job until after have a baby--but am taking the time to research.
I live in the NYC area and am thinking I would be willing to start out doing smaller parties at the clients' home, either planning/cooking/setup/cleanup/delivery or a subset.
Any advice from anyone? Thanking you in advance!

Hi,
That topic has been beaten to death here time and time again, along with many or those that have asked it, by some folks that know the pitfalls of trying to cater illegally from their houses. (very illegal in NY)
Read thought the postings here, (do a keyword search for home catering for a start, it only brings up about 480 postings) and in the old WFP and if you are have any specific questions, and are still interested in it, come back and post again.
Trust me, I'm doing you a favor here.
