WebFoodPros.com: Caterers Corner: seeking vendor referrals

I usually make everyhing from scratch, or just buy retail, ...but I've got a fussy client and a big party and so I can't do it this time.

I'm trying to find vendors of the following items. Los Angeles area required.

I've had no luck finding anyone from google, and my local competition is acting, well, competitive! Can you pros offer any trusted recommendations? It's a relatively small order, I'm afraid!

--150 pcs mini pizza crusts 3" diameter
--150 mini burger buns 2" diameter
-- 75 regular hot dog buns, standard, to fit a hebrew national kosher dog.

Thanks,
Chef JoAnna

You can get the hot dog buns from Smart and Final. There is one on Lincoln. The have all the frozen mini stuff like pizzas and White Castle burgers but not just the buns or pizza crusts.
One thought is buying the frozen proof and bake rolls and use those for the buns and the pizza crust.

Thanks for the reply, but we're not on the same page here. My client won't accept anything that's "manufactured" such as what you'd find at Smart&Final. That's why I'm asking for vendors. Bakers, to be precise.

I'm not serving *anything* that was pre-made and frozen, that's for sure!

--150 pcs mini pizza crusts 3" diameter----how about making a full size dough and cut the size circle you need with cutters.
--150 mini burger buns 2" diameter----also easy to make, dinner rolls cut in half
-- 75 regular hot dog buns, standard, to fit a hebrew national kosher dog----any bread bakery should be able to do this

Good luck, considering you won't make it yourself.

Thanks for the well-wishes, Tim. Your blessing of luck seems to have worked :-P

I've found two bakeries that will make the burger buns, 1 at 1.5", the other at 2.5" ... and one also makes custom burger buns, (dolce bakery, of Celestino Drago's empire) so I'll be picking up samples soon. I got a referral on a pizza crust maker in Marina Del Rey, from a restaurant that I worked freelance at today, so I'll be investigating that. If they don't make custom sizes, I'll punch out with cutters as per chef Manny's suggestion.

I can't bake anything besides the finished pizzas because I won't have the time to make the doughs AND bake them... nor will I have enough oven space to pull it off. I only cater in homes, so baking -in general- is problematic.

I didn't think it would be so hard to find a vendor... I thought the hard part was going to be to talk them into a small order. So far, that's not a problem at all!
