: Can anyone give any information about the origins of the croissant?

One version: It was originated in Hungary in the 17th century. The Austrian troops led by Eugen of Savoy liberated Hungary from the Turks in 1648 and The Hungarian bakers celebrated the victory by creating this crescent shape pastry.
