It sounds like you have no experience in the business you're thinking of going into.
You can work from your home but it must meet commercial food prep codes, usually (dependin on state) seperate entrance, mop sink, hand sink and 3 compartment stainless sink.
Floors, walls must be washable(no big deal), grease trap on drain, adequate refrigeration(commercial), all food prep surfaces must meet code( I have maple 3 inches thick).
Get a copy of the code from city hall and see what they require or rent time in someone elses joint.
Try to get a part time job, learn from the inside at someone elses expense rather than your own, people often go out of biz by the time they figure it out.
