: 1) Since we seldom do large functions, we don't own alot of equipment that many caterers might and have to rent when it comes time for the event. How much, if any, of the cost of the rental do you pass on to the client?

Hi Meg,

You really HAVE to pass the cost of rentals on to customers and infact since it takes your time and effort to arrange and set up for them you should charge a service charge over and above their cost to cover your true expenses.

Do a search for rentals in the search box at the top of the forum message page and you will find several threads discussing the issue.
