I am wondering if there is a good source for proposal templates? I have tried lots of software and many dollars and have not found one that is fast and easy to use. I have looked at cater source and other books but am looking for something that can be used to get a fast proposal out in a timely manor. Right now I spend way to much time on each proposal, sometimes upwards of 3 to 5 hours trying to create, and present a proposal that stands out. I enjoy doing it when I have the time but would like to find a way to be more organized and timely. Some jobs that are low in margin do not need this detail. What could be a fair profit gets cut on the time spent on the proposal.

The rental and fixed cost items drove me nuts, every proposal had me with the calculator and rental price list. After a lot of frustration I wrote a real quick easy Excel spreadsheet to calculate rentals and some fixed costs items. I also offer this to others. It is located on my under-construction web site at http://users.ap.net/~redwards/anon/ . To use the file you need to have Excel 97 or 2000 . Right mouse click on the file named CaterCalc© and save link as. Once you have it downloaded you can just double click on it and it should open. On the second sheet is where you can put in your own rates for rental items and hourly rates, just un-protect the sheet under tools. It can give you a quick idea of price even during the initial phone call.

If anyone has a good suggestion our would like to share with me please let me know. It seams every February as the phone starts to ring I reinvent the wheel.

Thanks Ron
