: I have to do King Ranch casserole for 70 people and don't want to have to use alot of different glass casserole dishes. I have 4 - 4" half pans that go in my chafer. How many will 1 of those pans serve. My chafer will hold 2 4" pans. Will the 4 pans be enough to serve 70 if I layer the casserole almost to the top?

I would estimate 30 people per 4 inch, half size pan....
When in doubt, fill the container with water, leaving space at the top, then measure the water to get the total oz's. Then divide by the portion size to get the number of portions per container... If it holds 180 oz's and the portion size is 6 oz (volume, not weight), then that is 30 portions....

Remember it is better to have too much!! You can eat your mistakes if you are over... You can't if you are under, neither can all your client's guests.
