: I have recently been asked by a large group of people in Texas to come out and cook for a scholarship benefit party.

Hmmm are you affiliated to the group that offers the scholorship?

: They are holding an Old English High Tea party for approximately 60-75 people and would like me to fly from Florida to cook for the event.
: I am a chef and a CIA grad., so cooking is not a problem, but I have no idea what to charge them for the event. They stated to me
: that they don't want an entree, they only want "finger foods, scones, jams, etc.". They plan on paying for all the ingredients and
: help needed to serve the food. I just need to know a ballpark figure on what I can charge for my services. If anyone can HELP me,
: please e-mail me and let me know.

It really depends on you relationship with the group. If you are affiliated with the group or if the event would generate publicity for you or your business (assuming you have one)having them pick up your expenses and a little traveling money would be reasonable.

However if you are not affiliated, and are brought in to do a job, any thing from $25 to $50 an hour plus expenses would be reasonable, assuming that you are in charge of all BOH for the event. (thats a New York rate, I'd immagine Texas is similar)

Good
