: I am eager to start my own personal chef business. I have one big draw back though. I live in the country and most of the business is in the city which is 35 minutes away. I could really use any and all information about getting started and anything related to that. I would appreciate any help.

Carroll-
The one piece of advice I feel I can share is, PLAN EVERYTHING way in advance! Also, contacting your local SCORE chapter is a good idea...they can give you some of the bare-bones basics you need to know to start up a small business (for more on SCORE, contact your local chamber of commerce)...as for the finer points & details, you really should check out the two personal chef associations...Candy Wallace's group, the American Personal Chef Institute & Association, at www.personalchef.com...and the United States Personal Chef Association at www.uspca.com...you CAN do this on your own, without affiliation, but being a member has saved me a lot of time and effort, and provides you with a terrific 24-hour a day support group...we are a brand new industry, and banding together and sharing ideas will only help us all! Best of luck-
Ragan
