I'm thrilled to find this forum - thanks George! I am also crazed about personal cheffing. Is there ever a need and interest in this service! I hope this forum is truly an open one! What's most important to me is that this industry expands with a good and reputable image. There's lots of room for organizations and many, many new personal chefs.

As far as certification goes - I agree that it's nice to have something. I'm finding the food handler's certificate is important, again from the sanitation and health standpoint. When was the last time you went into a restaurant and asked if the owner or "chef" was certified or licensed? Would that stop you from eating there? And as many of you know already - I've seen some pretty unsanitary and disgusting restaurant kitchens! My kitchen and my clients are miles above many of those. It hasn't stopped us from eating at restaurants! (has it?) Also - how many times have you asked if your mother (or father for that matter) had any certification? I'm proud of the homecooking that I do for my clients. They love it and could care less about my training, licensing or certification.

Education is important. This forum is one way that we can expand and share what's important in this wonderful service. The key word here is sharing. (and it doesn't cost anything except a little time!) Thanks again for the forum!
