Jason,

Most restaurants use some computerized ordering programs weather squirlle, miros, or whatever. It makes sense just on stopping, or at least making it harder for collusion between cook and server, and saving time on bookkeeping at the end of the day. Most now have inventory and recipe modules. I am not surprised by the advancements you mention.

One of the problems I have observed is;

While the initial training in thorough, during ensuing weeks/month/years the used features narrow because of employee attrition. I worked in hotel where the menu was never changed because no one new how to do the necessary changes on the computer, and the cost of help was prohibitive, (NOT MY WORDS).

I wonder if in the future, besides the usual, manager, chef, and bookkeeper there will be a necessary IT professional working at every restaurant.
