First food styling isn't an industry, its a (narrow) niche.
The best way to get started is marry someome who's connected.
This is my observation over the (30)yrs in the trade.

The person who has the skill to produce that which is photographed and the person who knows how to use a hasselblad camera doesn't need a wanker in the middle who calls themself a stylist but has the skill of neither.

Its kind of like "how to be a critic?' , if you have to ask...you lack the connections. In Boston its complete nepotism.
Competence means nothing.
Better to get a camera and establish yourself...but then you'll have to deal with ......stylists.
