Food WritingPosted by Vanessa on March 26, 1998 at 14:17:20:
The explosion of chopped garlic hitting a hot wok (not to mention the aroma) gets me salivating. Even the memory of this is enough to make me weak in the knees since I grew up in my parent's restaurant kitchen... I was the little girl in the back, quietly shucking pea pods and wrapping wontons while watching my mother hand-glaze roast pork with honey and a blowtorch. Growing up in this environment, where feeding is a way of loving, I've played with the idea of indulging my fantasies of writing about food. Does one need to obtain education in a culinary school to be a credible writer in this field? I am overwhelmed by the amount of schools available as I am just beginning my search, so I would be thankful for any advice provided.
