I hope these "experts" haven't totally discouraged you from helping your daughter (if that is really what she wants to do). I should say right off the bat that I am a working chef, I have never owned a resturant and I don't think I would want to. Everything they've said about the hard work is correct and it was my experience in Culinary School that GPA was not nearly as important as determination or talent. I would also agree with one of the "posters" who said that the real world is nothing like tv (but maybe you and your daughter already knew that)and that a job in a bakery might be an excellent idea, ecspecially in combination with school. A good school will have a well rounded curiculum that should incude business managment as well as cooking or pastry arts. I am sure it was not your intention to offend anyone, and this is a public forum (right George?) Anyway I hope this helped answer you question.
