Any cook, even aspiring, does their own research.

If they don't they are in trouble.

Your comment does not take into account the booming economy, which makes more people take risks with both their career and their money.

I think that has more to do with it than anything else. I was at a party where there were people who didn't EVEN KNOW WHO EMERIL WAS!!! (Itelligent, educated people) So I wonder about his influence....
