: : I need to apply to a school before the fall semester begins. In the long run, will my going through a two year "tech" culinary program (as opposed to a four year program) have that much of an effect on my career as a chef? Also, would it benefit me to take this two year program and then transfer into one of the fancier "specialty schools," say like one of the ones in NY?

: For any type of management position a 4 year, BA of BS degree is becoming the minimum requirement.

: If you choose to do a 2 year AOS type program first BE SURE TO CHECK IF THE CREDITS ARE TRANSFERABLE!

: I'm a CIA graduate and was shocked to learn that the 64 credits I had earned (gpa 3.77) were NOT RECOGNIZED by other accredited 4 year schools! ( you can barter a small amount of them as life experience credits)

: Good Luck

I thank you for pointing out the fact that
credits may not transfer. This is something I
certainly wouldn't have checked on and is probably
a good indication that it would be a better idea to go to a 4 year school and get the BS degree. Thanks again!
