One of the bad things the schools teach and encourage is for students to adress each other as chef but they ain't chefs.
Maybe it would be better if they said sir, they do install professionalism which is good but if everyone calls you chef you will think its true, many people think pastry chef is a simple position to attain, a quick way to become chef without having to do all the training a real chef has to do but they are dead wrong. The title means something.
Food writers do great damage when they write about all the chefs in the kitchen, as far as they are concerned everyone in the kitchen is a chef.
