Nah, I did a stint teaching coast guard chefs and they all pestered me to no end "how much will I make when I get out".
You'd fit right in cooking for a university but..
Most of the higher paying jobs seem to be in restaurants serving
high end stuff, not exactly what you'd learn in the forces.

One of the 'young skulls of mush' on the CG ship was whining that he wasn't being taught much,
the officer said "we're making a man out of you" ,
and thats the trewf.!
The forces prepare you for life, any moron can be a cook.
(I know I've worked with them all).
