Finding local mentors

Hello all,
I am a 31 year old culinary arts student at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio. I have almost half way through the program and am now in search of Pastry Chefs to obtain employment with. I have been unable to locate any as most of the hotels and country clubs here do not employ any. The school, whose program is excellent, is more adept at helping the culinary students find employment then the occasional pastry student such as myself. I have much foodservice management behind me but very little baking which is why I am so eager to find a good mentor/apprenticeship program. Can you offer any advice Please.
P.S. I have recently become a junior member of the American Culinary Federation.
