: I am interested in knowing your views on freebees.
: How many do you do in a year? How do you mix professionals with non professionals (my biggest problem)
: Do they really help business?

This year I did more than I ever had before :

The Gourmet Gala, biggest fund raiser for the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster (PA) County. It was my 3rd year and worth doing. 400+ bites of food. I have gotten good results from this.

Taste of Lancaster County to benefit the PA Food Bank: I only supplied hors d'oeuvres for the Supporters Reception. I made Tomato Basil Antipasto on Foccacia for about 200. Good way to target the market I want with minimal effort, as opposed to making food bites for 1000 for the regular folks.

Did 4 gift baskets for 4 various causes. Took all of $22 - $25 to make up really nice looking baskets that I valued at $50. I included gift certificates for $25 off of a booking in with each, plus business cards affixed to magnets along with the unusual gourmet goodies. These were very much worth the $$ and the time it took to put them together. Got excellent results from it.

Fund raisers can be worth the bother, but decide which ones are worth doing and limit your yearly expenditures then stick with it!

Cheers,

Sharon
