For 300 to 400pp
Roast Baron of Beef(steamship round)would be the most economical
route. Served with Cold mayonaise based sauces, horsey, green
peppercorn mustard and roasted garlic are three that I use.
Also a relish tray with a variety of imported olives and cornishons with pickled vegetables or grilled vegetables.

As far as chicken goes, any upscale chicken dish with appropriate condiments will do just don't get to extreme.
