: This may be asking the fox to guard the chicken coop however.....I like to live dangerously. My question is this I am planning a large wedding reception for about 100-150 people. What are some of the pitfalls to avoid when chosing a caterer. Please don't get me wrong I am happy to pay a fair price for a good product but in this case I am just not that familiar with the practices in the business. Thanks in advance.
Noel,
You couldn't have come to a better place for advice.
Gerard's advice, as always, is sound and well thought out.
I can usually tell when I meet someone for the first interview if my company is going to cater their wedding.
We haven't advertized in 2 years, so every clietn that walks through the door is pre qualified. The have either eaten in our restaurant, been to a party that we catered or have heard that we are great!
It is important to "click" with the caterer.
Sometimes you just aren't on the same page, or just don't like each other.
That is okay- go with your gut.
