: I have been asked to do the food for an art gallery opening. They are expecting around 200 people but only have $400 as their budget. Any ideas on good inexpensive appetizers? I am planning on doing it buffet style so I am thinking mediterranean tapas- hummus, bruschetta, yougurt dip. Any other ideas out there or am I simply crazy to take this on?

As Carl was saying...if someone else want's to work for nothing, LET them!!!!, but if you want the exposure....spend the $400.00 on food, ask the museum to absorb the direct labor charges & any applicable rental costs and donate your time....with several nice "computer" generated signs saying "reception graciously donated by ABC catering & Chef Michell Doe", showcase some CHEAP showpiece type items and mingle and pass out those cards!!!!
BUT I am always suspicious of potential clients who tell me to cut them a deal, you will get a ton of referrals off this business........in my experience almost never pans out!!!!!!!
