Carmen,

You can make a go of it on your own, it will just take you longer. When you want to buy a car that will serve you for years, which do you go for: a beater or something proven to last for over 250,000 miles.

I am a seasoned personal chef. I know that most of the blah blah blah about pricing is tail chasing. A typical menu for 2 people/ 5 mains in 2 portions each costs me $60.00 more or less to produce. I charge $270.00 for that service. Flat fee. It takes me under 5 hours to produce it. One hour for grocery shopping. I am making a decent living doing this, but just lately. After 4 years as a personal chef, I can say that I am glad I did not bail. The marketing is finally beginning to pay off.

The minimum I will work for is $25.00 an hour.

The benefits of charging one price is that the clients just aren't interested in knowing how much you spent on groceries. If they were interested, they would be shopping for themselves.

Don't keep trying to reinvent the wheel.

Sharon
