: Yes you can pre cook it , let me let you in on how I was able to do a BBQ Chicken for 200 when I was small. It was costly( 4.99 per whole chicken) but I was making enough on the job and there was no other way for me to do it. I went to Costco and bought their roasted chickens. I had called the day before to place the order for 100. I cut them up and refrigerated them. The next day on the job they went on the grill and were finished with a sauce.

: 2 does not take long on the grill to get the "grill flavor" you could also add some hickory wood chips on your coals
